Dear Readers

If you ask me what the world of tomorrow will look like, there is only one logical answer: trenchless. Because a trenchless world is also a better world to live in. We at TRACTO live this idea every day,
because as the only full-range supplier of trenchless machines for all applications in pipe installation and rehabilitation, we know exactly where the potential of this future technology lies.

In action: pipe reduction with GRUNDOBURST

PIPE REHABILITATION LIKE CLOCKWORK

In Großbeeren near Berlin, MRA GmbH rehabilitated a total of 430 m of ND 1000 sewer pipe using pipe reduction method with GRUNDOBURST 1900G. With this method, the outside diameter of the new PE long pipe is mechanically reduced and pulled into the defective old pipe by the bursting rig. After being pulled in, the reduced PE pipe string 'close-fits' to the inside of the old pipe. The first section was 130 m long, and the second section of over 300 m was later successfully rehabilitated.

Trenchless technologies can help reduce
water loss in a sustainable and
environmentally friendly way. An example
from England: WESSEX WATER (UK) carried
out a trenchless pipeline renewal in 2018,
saving the transport of more than
250
thousand

of material,
taking
30

if we look closely at the number of pipelines
being renewed, there is huge potential for
trenchless technologies.

DECADES OF PROVEN PERFORMANCE

"The GRUNDOMAT soil displacement hammer works very reliably and precisely."
The German contractor Jak. Gärtner & Söhne GmbH from Lampertheim in Germany proves that the GRUNDOMAT can become a standard tool. We visited them on a construction site and were thrilled to see how Klaus Gärtner's team uses trenchless technology to conserve resources and spare the nerves of local residents.

THE FUTURE IS SECURE

TRACTO is and always will be a family business, something that founder Paul Schmidt set great store by. But what happens to a family business when the owner dies suddenly and has no direct heirs? This was the question that preoccupied Wolfgang Schmidt († October 2020) before his death and is certainly of interest to you, dear readers.

In five sentences
GRUNDOPIT
mini HDD drilling rigs
1
Small
quick startersarter
GRUNDOPIT mini HDD rigs are ready for use in no time at all. A truck-mounted crane or mini-excavator is all that is needed for handling. And thanks to the rig's compact dimensions, only small pits are required. These can be made quickly and with minimal excavation.
2
Steerable
house connector
Thanks to their steerability, the GRUNDOPIT mini HDD rigs are predestined for establishing house connections under difficult conditions: right into a small pit in front of the building, directly into the building or the cellar and in the opposite direction.
3
Compact
powerhouses
Despite their compact dimensions, the GRUNDOPIT mini rigs are very powerful. Thrust and pull forces of up to 60 kN, combined with high torques and speeds, allow pipes to be installed even in difficult soils. The robust design is an additional advantage.
4
Nimble
high-flyer
With the super-compact GRUNDOPIT PS40 you can carry out flat bores above the existing pipe infrastructure from a pit as wide as 1 metre. This is particularly useful for installing Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections quickly and directly from the pavement.
5
Optimum
mud
Different systems for drilling mud. From the simple flush unit for water operation to the complete MA09 mixing unit, there is a system to suit every jobsite requirement.

SAFETY FIRST!

You have probably read or heard headlines in the media such as "Power line damaged during civil engineering work - power cut for hours". Usually, this happens when the exact location of the line is not documented and the work is carried out more or less 'blind'. However, it is part of the duty of care of the executing contractor to check the location of other utilities and obstacles in the area before starting the work on site. If this is not done and an existing pipe is damaged, the contractor can be held liable for the consequential damage.
